The footballer, from Sao Paulo in Brazil, was arrested on August 17 by police in Mill Hill, north London, for allegedly driving erratically.
On Wednesday he answered police bail and was charged with dangerous driving and driving without due care and attention.
The 29-year-old, of Church Mount, Barnet, north London, will appear at Hendon Magistrates' Court on September 27.
